Very, very funny. These instructions have been on the internet for quite a while now and I once read them with comments added. That was also very funny, unfortunately I haven't been able to find the version with comments anywhere.
This is so funny (coming from a SAHM mom of four) because I have days that I feel just like this. But,I think somebody missed the point of what a "housewife" is, nor the joy truly found in housekeeping. Thank you for the bit of laughter!
Alison, thanks for sharing this link - I personally had a good giggle at it!
I also wanted to say that I've been reading your site for a while now and I really love it. Your blog is beautiful to look at, very well designed with fabulous retro graphics (where *do* you get them from?) and interesting links to pastures new. To top all that are your words of housekeeping wisdom - utterly charming. It's a comforting step back to a quieter age gone by. Thanks so much for making me smile inside every time I visit.
Can I comment twice? After reading Alison's Manifesto, I think the "lady" in this video somehow missed the beauty of housekeeping. Really, from what I heard, as the narrator read from the vintage housekeeping book, all the suggestions were from good intentions fueled by love for family. Too bad the video makers of this don't get it. I would give a warning: don't view this with tender little eyes close by.
Okay, that was hilarious. People who can't laugh at it need a whole other handbook called "Get a Life. Prozac can help."
